Jan studied notarial law at Utrecht University and tax law at the University of Amsterdam.
After completing his studies in notarial law, Jan spent several years as a tax consultant and then as a deputy civil-law notary at legal predecessors of Loyens & Loeff and Allen & Overy.
Jan was appointed as a civil-law notary in 1996.
Jan has been a partner at KPMG (Steins Bisschop Meijburg & Co), PwC (Landwell), and Lexence, among other places.
He has been a partner at Civilence since 2009.
As a civil-law notary, Jan has extensive experience in the field of corporate law (mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, corporate governance, joint ventures, employee participation, and cross-border mergers and conversions). In recent years, he has specialised more in particular in the area of corporate estate planning for wealthy families and private equity transactions.
